The independent Marrakech hideaway ranks among Northern Africa’s Top 10 hotels, with a reader satisfaction score of 92.99
Marrakech, 7 October 2026: Le Farnatchi, the intimate luxury hotel hidden within the heart of Marrakech’s historic medina, has been named one of the best hotels in Africa in the prestigious Condé Nast Traveller Readers’ Choice Awards 2026.
The independently owned property was ranked No. 9 in Northern Africa, achieving an impressive 92.99 overall reader satisfaction score and placing Le Farnatchi alongside some of the region’s most internationally celebrated hotels, including La Mamounia, Royal Mansour Marrakech, Mandarin Oriental Marrakech, The Oberoi Marrakech and El Fenn.
Announced by Condé Nast Traveller on 6 October, the annual Readers’ Choice Awards are determined by its readers, with the results reflecting their experiences and overall levels of satisfaction at hotels and destinations around the world.
For Le Farnatchi, the recognition marks another milestone for a hotel that has built its reputation around highly personal service, Moroccan craftsmanship and a deliberately intimate alternative to Marrakech’s larger luxury resorts.
Hidden behind the walls of the medina, Le Farnatchi brings together a collection of historic riad spaces, individually designed accommodation and quiet courtyards centred around its signature emerald-tiled swimming pool. Traditional carved plasterwork, Moroccan tiles and locally made furniture sit alongside contemporary comforts, while its rooftop terrace offers a peaceful escape above the energy of the surrounding souks.
Guests also have direct access to the acclaimed Farnatchi Spa, with its traditional hammams and extensive treatment offering, while sister restaurant Le Trou au Mur has become a destination in its own right, celebrating Moroccan dishes and recipes that are rarely found on conventional restaurant menus.
James Wix, owner of Le Farnatchi, said:
“Being recognised by the readers of Condé Nast Traveller means an enormous amount to all of us at Le Farnatchi. We have always wanted the hotel to feel deeply connected to Marrakech while offering the warmth and intimacy of a private home, rather than simply being another luxury hotel.
“To be ranked amongst some of the very best hotels in Northern Africa is a huge honour, and reflects the ongoing dedication of our superb team. Many of them have been part of Le Farnatchi’s story for years, and it is their warmth, attention to detail and genuine hospitality that guests remember long after they leave.”
The accolade comes as Marrakech continues to strengthen its position as one of the world’s leading luxury travel destinations, with Le Farnatchi offering travellers a distinctly personal way to experience the city from within the ancient medina.
